Team mission
The customer success organization is the tip of the spear to deliver on Bambee’s mission of restoring dignity in employment. Through the development of close-knit bonds Bambee HR Managers form with small business owners, beneficial change for owners and employees starts to occur. The Bambee HR Manager puts into place best practice policies and training that gives both the owner and employees peace of mind about how to conduct business inside a modern workplace. The HR Manager also acts as a sherpa, helping guide employers and their employees down the correct paths and counseling employers and employees during moments of immense uncertainty of what do next. Our team includes the customer success, small business HR manager, and activation & onboarding teams.
Matt Goldsmith
Leader Bio
Matt’s background is in corporate retail HR, where he specialized in turning around underperforming customer service teams at Macy’s and Target, before joining Bambee as the first dedicated HR Manager for customers. At Bambee, Matt has spent time at the helm of Bambee’s customer (2X), sales (2X), product, and operations organizations, focusing on delivering process enhancements to underdeveloped areas of the business to achieve broad-based objective business outcomes. Matt is proudly public-school educated and is passionate about finding and developing overlooked talent in areas many other companies won’t look.
Technology + Engineering
Team mission
My team is responsible for turning Bambee’s mission into reality through technology. We develop Bambee’s digital products and support the underlying technologies that power it.
Mike Ruangutai
Leader Bio
I am passionate about building teams that use technology to improve customer outcomes. I have been in technology for over 20 years building and leading teams and developing large scale technology products. I started writing code for aerospace systems in the nineties and worked my way through automotive, hospitality, healthcare, video games, and now HR technology in 2022.
Product + Data + Design
Team mission
I’m lucky to have 4 whole teams to help us achieve our vision: The Data Team helps us understand our customers and internal teams. The curiosity of our data professionals unlocks insight and directs the work of everyone at the company towards a better HR experience for our customers. The Product Team uses that quantitative data insight and supplements it with qualitative research: market insights, customer conversations, sales calls and more to help burgeon a strategic vision. Design takes the baton to devise delightful customer experiences, and finally, the Communications Team announces the innovation to our customers!
Leon Tchikindas
Leader Bio
I started my career studying Biomedical Engineering and entered the job market as an analyst working for a niche Pharma-consulting company. Very quickly I discovered an affinity for driving insights and building novel products. As I transitioned from Pharma to Healthcare, and eventually to HR Tech, I kept getting pulled into product development adjacencies until it became the focal point of my career. I routinely apply engineering thought processes with analytics-grounded curiosities to develop novel solutions for our customers.

The People team serves as subject matter experts to work cross functionally to develop the products that make running a small business more efficient and great places to work. The team diligently strives to make Bambee the place where everyone can be the most authentic version of themselves and do the most creative and challenging work of their professional career. We aim to make Bambee their professional “home”. Our work is to be able to attract the most talented professionals, from all walks of life and experiences to provide the best products and the most exceptional service to our customers. Lainie Cooney

I started my professional career as a clinical psychologist in private practice before transitioning to working internally with companies both large and small. I have led cross functional People teams both domestically and internationally and in public and private companies. My roles have spanned a wide array of industries including retail, financial, specialty foods, logistics, distribution and sport betting and entertainment. But I found my passion in building companies and have focused on bringing startups and early-stage companies through critical inflection points and rapid growth. points.
Finance + Marketing
Team mission
My team is responsible for providing insights, guidance, and accountability for Bambee’s individual business groups and the company as a whole. We track key performance indicators to monitor the health of the business and ensure that we’re meeting our short- and long-term objectives. The Finance team plays a vital role in Bambee’s decision-making process by assessing the financial impact of strategic initiatives, as well as making sure we adhere to regulatory compliance. We also lead the company’s fundraising efforts and manage investor relations.
Steven Gross

Previously at Rent.com, Headspace, Pollen, and StackCommerce, Steven is an experienced finance and strategy executive. He has a proven track record of building companies, raising venture capital, and scaling hyper-growth tech companies.
Operations + Sales
Team mission
I lead the New Business Sales, Existing Business Sales, Payroll Operations, and Customer Support teams. New Business Sales acts as the customer’s initial guide to understanding what Bambee can do for their business and its employees. Existing Business Sales strategizes with the customer to ensure that they have all of the products and services necessary to to fully realize their HR potential. Payroll Operations ensures a smooth and compliant transition to having HR and payroll fully integrated. And Customer Support is the master problem solver, making sure that any general questions and bumps in the road are quickly addressed.
Paul Sternhell

I’m foremost a general manager who has spent time in operations, client services, sales, and product leadership roles over a 25-year career in technology software and hardware, particularly B2B SaaS companies. I love building and leading high-performing teams, and have a passion for developing and mentoring emerging leaders. I’m analytical and technical, spending significant time analyzing data and understanding a company’s technology deeply. I was educated as an engineer and love solving problems for customers and employees.
